How
did GMT come about?
The
story of the Goddess
Miyaku Team started
in early 2004. Before
GMT, HemisH had
been doing the AMG
manga scanslations
starting from volume
15. After noting
delays in release
of volume 27, Peorthmegami
and Moiraine_Sedai
met with HemisH
regarding this matter.
It was during this
time that GMT's
future channel,
#belldandy at irc.highway.net,
was founded simply
as a place to meet.
Volume
27 was eventually
released but there
were major problems
with the next volume
since neither a
translator nor scanner
was available. Fortunately
by a series of circumstances
things fell into
place. Swistak of
the scanslation
group Manga-Underground
posted a call for
a translator, which
was answered by
White_Fox who offered
to buy the tankoubons
for scanning. Another
group of fans based
in Animereactor
released volume
28 but GMT (yet
unnamed at that
time) decided to
push through. Permission
was received to
use this group's
translation. At
this time Jimmy
C arrived and volunteered
to edit the translations
as well as write
one for chapter
182 from scratch.
Soon after Nik-ohki,
a Japanese translator
joined the team.
When the time came
to release Volume
28, it was decided
to list it under
Dailymanga, the
most popular scanlsation
listing service.
However a formal
group name was required
and after several
suggestions, Goddess
Miyaku Team was
agreed upon.
With
this, GMT was formally
born. New members
were still to be
added, like Watersoul
who helped the team
set up the Bittorent
downloads. The team
from Animereactor,
comprised of p00k,
Lantis and Oxidation
were eventually
integrated into
GMT.
